Q&A

Q. I've heard that for Male to Female transgender people under hormone therapy, if they have had their nipples pierced that at best they will maybe a 5% in nipple development? I was hoping to get advice as to if this is true or not and maybe a hint as to why it would occur?

Response by Krystle Glass

A. I've not heard of such a phenomena. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I don't understand though what the corollary might be between piercings and nipple development. My tendency is to suspect that in those who have not had much nipple development and who have been on hormones after having their nipples pierced, may very well have had the same results without the piercings. Just as some who are not pierced have significant development while some do not. I believe it all comes down to individual body chemistry and how well a person responds to hormone therapy. It's in the genes, not in the jewelry.
