Q&A

Q. I am a m2f closet Transvestite looking for a way to increase my breast size without using hormone injections? Does anyone have any knowledge about the many supplements on the market?? 1. At what point would a (biological) man taking female hormones lose the ability to have an erection? Or would he lose this ability at all? 2. Are there are any herbs (natural hormones etc) that anyone has research on use in the transgender community to help with the change?

A. I've included multiple questions here that all revolve around the same or similar themes.

To my knowledge the only way to increase breast size is by either surgery or hormonal treatments. ANY hormone treatments should be done with the proper medical oversight and involvement. Your primary care Dr. and an experienced endocrinologist are essential. I cannot stress this enough. The complications are many and can be life-threatening.

Herbal hormones have mixed reviews. Some people swear by them and claim to have had excellent results. Others have used identical regimes with little or no benefit. Some have seen no benefit but have experienced side effects such as headache, nausea etc. So it's pretty much a crap-shoot as far as herbals go. you may get results, you may not. You could just end up throwing away money. Personally I am not much in favor of the whole herbal bandwagon, even aside from those pursued by the transgender community. All the herbal remedies for colds, depression, memory, slepp etc etc etc are ALL unqualified. As in anything SOME people will respond to them well and achieve some measure of success. But none of them are regulated at all as far as purity, standardization of manufacture etc. Little or nothing is known about how they interact with each other and any other medication you might be taking (prescription or otherwise). People have come to equate herbal with being somehow healthier and better for you. All herbal means is that it is a plant extract. So are a good many of the prescription medications we have today (ie digitalis from foxglove). Messing with your body chemistry is never a good idea, especially without some sort of medical monitoring.

As to how long it would take for a biological male on female hormones to lose the ability to achieve erection, it varies. It all depends on dosage and how well the person responded. In most cases it is a matter of months. (assuming they are on a "typical" mix and dosage used by M2F transsexuals seeking to move to full-time and eventual SRS)
